Scidera Lab (formerly MMI) - DNA Testing

Effective July 15, 2007:

* DNA Myostatin tests are mandatory for all animals in all categories of registry or recordation.

* DNA Parentage Verification is optional in all categories of registry or recordation with exception of ET offspring. (Spot testing will be done)

* DNA Permanent Record Test is mandatory on all bulls prior to registry or recordation of offspring from that bull, and for all AI bulls, and for all ET donor females.

NAPA Member Rate Fees are $38./animal to test for both DNA Permanent Record & Myostatin - if done at the same time, using the Micro Cattle Cards.

$15/animal for just DNA Myostatin, using the Micro Cattle Card, if done seperately from the Permanent Record (parentage) DNA test.

$23/animal for just Permanent Record/Parentage, using the Micro Cattle Cards.

It is recommended to request BOTH tests for the one time total fee of $38. per animal. However, if you wish to first conduct the Myostatin Test to determine if an animal has the minimum 1-allele necessary to be eligible for registration/recordation - you can then order the Permanent Record test to be done later for the added fee of $23./animal - plus a $5. fee for pulling the sample card out of archives.

DNA Test fees are payable to SCIDERA and must accompany the samples. Complete instructions for using the FTA Cattle Cards will be mailed to you when you order them from NAPA.

*Note: any time that you require additional testing done on an archived Micro Card sample already at the Lab, there will be a $5. charge for pulling the sample card out of archives.

DNA testing using HAIR SAMPLES or SEMEN will still be available through Scidera, but at an increased fee.

Permanent Record and Myostatin tests, done together, using Hair or Semen Samples will be $48. per animal.

Myostatin tests, alone, using Hair or Semen Samples will be $25. per animal.

Permanent Record/Parentage test, alone, using Hair or Semen Samples will be $33. per animal.

If you are not a member of NAPA, non-member rates for DNA services at Scidera will apply.

Contact NAPA for details.
